    Reith did resist government takeover but it could be argued that he achieved this by making sure the BBC did what the government wanted it to do during the General Strike. Churchill (who was the Chancellor of the Exchequer) said "I do not agree that the TUC have as much right as the Government to publish their side of the case and to exhort their followers to continue action" and that was the line the BBC seemed to take. Do media organisations just censor themselves to avoid censorship by others? And what is the difference between internal and external censorship? Useful questions to think about for the Censorship modules that Film and Media students will both be examined on.
